Behavioural Economics and Scaling up a Scottish SME by Investing in the Team at Barclays

George Thorley OBE, Area Director Scotland for SOLACE in Business and Stephen Park Brown, MD of NVT Group delivered illuminating talks on how to get the best out of your team and how the ‘science’ of behavioural economics can have a huge impact on people’s conduct.

Hugs, Nudges, Shoves and Smacks – George took us through many enthralling examples of how behavioural economics can reduce your costs and increase your income – from the power of understanding the ‘big default’ to the 7 rules of nudging behaviour and how these can influence, for example, organ donating, food waste recycling and taxation schemes.

A Scottish SME Punching Above its Weight – Stephen reflected on the achievements of the team at NVT Group, which successfully delivered the IT infrastructure for the Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup and the Scottish Open, and had just won the contract to deliver the infrastructure for Glasgow 2018 European Championships. NVT constantly searches out new challenges and ambitious projects. Its outstanding team is a glowing example accomplishing great things against global competition.

An inspirational day!
